Built with love, designed by luck he came alive at last,
As the cogs finally turned, and whirred into life,
Ev’ryone was aghast,
Hissing and blinking, Green flashing eyes, the beast was pow’red by steam,
Breathing in and out, Tail thrashing about,
An amazing sight to see,

Chorus
Isambard the mechanical dragon,
Made with cogs and copper and wire,
A feat of sound engineering,
With a belly full of fire

Put on display and tickets were bought, the queues lined up for miles,
The public were thrilled as they watched him perform,
Ev’ry day he grew more wild,
One day he turned round and facing the crowd opened his metal jaws,
He lit up the room, and toasted the crowd,
To a giant funeral pyre.

Chorus

Like candles on cakes, top hats a’flame,
Scorched eyebrows and capes,
Women a’screaming, parasols ablaze they make good their escape,
Too dangerous ,Frankensteins monster,
We’ll burn if we stay here!
Extinquish his flames, and put out his power,
We must destroy this creature.

The crowd surged forward, the barriers broke,
The dragon let out a cry,
With a big breath of fire,exhalation of steam,
He lifted to the sky,
Free and alone, soared high in the clouds
Unto the unknown realm,
A life of steam ,and fury of fire,
The sky’s Isambard’s throne.
